This March we celebrate National Social Worker’s Month. Since its inception, the social work profession has worked to improve life for millions of people every day. Social workers operate from values that recognize each person as relevant to society and believe that, when needed, society should help each person achieve his or her fullest potential.

Social workers are invaluable to our society as a whole. Licensed social workers help patients and their families deal with issues such as coping with illness and the aging process, end of life decisions, funding for medications, qualifying for personal service programs and identifying available community resources. Social workers are an integral part of the ongoing efforts we make each day to work not only with our patients, but also their loved ones. Simply said: those who become social workers are the type of people who believe they can make a significant impact in the lives of others by working tirelessly to help them succeed in the face of barriers.
